Save VS Splurge #3

This instalment of Save VS Splurge is a bit different. Mainly because the ‘Save” section I wouldn’t call it a save, it’s more just half the price of ‘Splurge’ which is incredibly expensive in my mind!!

First up is the save option – Paula’s Choice Resist C15 Super Booster. Now can I just say THANK YOU to Paula’s Choice for offering trial size options with most, if not all their products! Retailing for $55 for a 20ml bottle that has a shelf life of 3 months max, for me that’s on the expensive side. Reading reviews a lot of people don’t get the full 3 months before the product goes off, but I know if you contact PC they will offer you a refund or replacement.

I’ve been using it at night time (even though it states you can use it twice a day) underneath my night moisturiser or the Lush Serum Bar. Wow, just wow. I have not woken up and gone “Wow” at my skin in a long long time. My skin looks hydrated, fresh and awake. My fine lines aren’t accentuated but I haven’t used it for long enough to say whether they’re going down or not. The pigmentation on my skin is evening out, it’s so odd to see old freckles slowly fading to normal skin colour. I simply adore Vitamin C in skincare, it’s the perfect ingredient for my skins age. I truly and deeply adore this serum and will definitely be purchased the full size bottle in my next Paula’s Choice order.

Save VS Splurge 3Onwards to the splurge – Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair. I was really lucky to receive a sample sized bottle of this, because for 30ml $95 is way out of my fortnightly pay cheque budget. It’s Australia’s number 1 repair serum and has proven anti-ageing benefits. You’d bloody hope it did for that price! On their website alone it stands at 5 stars over 108 reviews and I completely agree with this rating.

It’s a miracle serum gel that transforms the surface of your skin overnight. I have used this for a pro-longed period of time and have seen my fine lines reduce, so yes it does actually work. My skin is super soft, supple and hydrated the morning after I apply this. Like I can literally see and feel a difference in my skin, it’s insane. I only use this twice a week as I really wanted to stretch the product out as much as I could, and I’m down to my last quarter! I’ve also been teaming it with the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye serum sample pot, which has dramatically decreased the lines and dark circles around my eyes. If I were a millionaire I’d literally throw money at an Estée Lauder cosmetic counter and buy bottles, replacement bottles and replacement bottles for my replacement bottles. I’m yet to try something from EL that I don’t like, and sure they have nasty ingredients in their products but they work for me and my skin. This item will probably never be purchased by me alone, it’s at the top of my present list 😛

So comes the question, Save or Splurge? I’m torn, I love both! Right here and now, I’m going to save and purchase the full sized bottle of Paula’s Choice serum and see if I get the full 3 months out of it.

❤ MJG
