What do I say about the beautiful creation that is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Light. Let’s start with a quote directly from the Hourglass website – “Ambient Lighting Bronzer fuses the illuminating effects of Photoluminescent Technology with bronze pigments to deliver a natural, sun-kissed glow while exhibiting depth and dimension. The sheer, airy formula sweeps on softly for a healthy-looking, radiant finish to the skin.”
I have never read a truer quote in all my life, this product is everything it speaks about and more. The first time I wore this, I had everyone including people in the street tell me how nice my skin looked. How healthy, youthful and fresh it appeared. I honestly felt like I looked like I had spent a week in the Bahamas getting massages all day long. Healthy, glowing and youthful, yes please. The above photo has two swatches, the left is it blended into my skin and the right being a dark swatch of the product itself.
I have to say, most of the swatches on the internet are horrible. They seem orangey and glittery, and some say you can’t tell a difference between the shades. Between you and me, the shades were incredibly different when I swatched them! The Luminous Bronze Light is a beautiful pale sunny glow whereas the Radiant Bronze Light was a deeper sunset glow. It really depends on the strength of bronzer you like, I prefer a subtle glow hence why I went for the Luminous Bronze Light.
I am loving this so much right now I’ve made it a permanent feature in my everyday routine. I just can’t get enough 🙂
Have you tried this yet?
This is one of the most talked about, hyped up primers on the market, the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. Every blog I read, their mum and cat loves this primer. So what makes it so great that your uncle is boasting about it?
It’s a super lightweight primer that turns your skin into a smooth and silky canvas. It conceals redness, minimises pores, fine lines and wrinkles. The two reasons why I was drawn to it is it’s SPF 15 content and it states it repels water. I specifically was looking for a daytime primer that contained SPF for the days where I knew I’d forget to add sunscreen in to my routine (pretty much everyday), also the appeal of it repelling water made me feel like it was going to help my makeup stay on my face longer.
It’s suuuuper expensive, like golly gosh expensive. I purchased the 10ml small pump bottle from Mecca Maxima to just try out. It was $25!!! That is the most I’ve ever spent on a primer before, if we’re talking cost to volume price. So does it live up to it’s hype in my mind?
Right now with my current skin, it does nothing for me. It doesn’t conceal my redness, minimise my pores etc. The SPF content has proved to work, no sunburn for me! I cant comment on it making my makeup last longer, as currently my skin was changed from oily/combo to dry/normal/dragon flakes (update on my acne story soon!). I think if I were to go back to my oily skin, it would be perfect. I feel like it does dry out my skin a bit once applied, so I’d say it gives you a demi matte canvas.
Will I be purchasing this full-sized? Unfortunately not, but I’m glad I did give it a try! Have you tried this? Love it or not?
Another purchase I can thank a YouTuber for. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous Light has literally changed my life.
I initially wanted to purchase it for my wedding, but money got away from me and I couldn’t afford it. Also it’s recently come down in price, so making the trip down to the new Mecca Maxima in Joondalup, Perth was kinda worth it.
Swatching it on the back of my hand, I was surprised how glittery and shimmery it was. I was initially scared to buy it and almost wanted to buy Dim Light instead because it is a matte powder. I gave myself a talking to in the middle of Mecca, I think I scared a few of the sales staff but I conquered my fear of glitter and bought it!
As soon as I swept some onto my face the following day with my Jessup Tapered Highlight brush (similar to Sigma F35) oh. my. god. It’s not glittery, it’s only slightly shimmery and 100% heaven. I would be happy to never use another highlight powder again in my life, Luminous Light has completed me. It’s so so buttery and soft, yet it doesn’t floof up heaps of powder in the compact so you don’t feel like you’re wasting product. It blends flawlessly onto your face and it’s so easy to build up for a more dramatic look. I just can not think of anything else to say but OH MY GOD.
Another thing I love about this powder is the colours they offer, not only do they compliment a lot of skin tones but they all give you a different ‘lighting’ effect to your face. I highly recommend the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder range, I will definitely consider purchasing other colours in the future.
Zoeva Brushes! As a price comparison to Sigma brushes they are much cheaper and I’m basing my knowledge on how good they are from other reviews. I still currently don’t own any Sigma brushes but one day I will!
The one set that has caught my eye are the Rose Golden Luxury Set. I am starting to adore rose gold things! I like the combination of the brushes that are included and love the pouch! Yet it’s still not enough eye brushes for my liking..
So if and when I can place my order I will probably get the Complete Eye Set as well. Again a great range of brushes included, I really need more blending brushes in my kit. I know it includes one ‘Shader’ brush, but one is never enough, so I would probably add the All Over Shader brush as well.
Can you see where I’m going with this? 😛
Thennnnn I’d have to try out their version of the Sigma F80 and compare it with my Jessup dupe. They call it a Buffer but it looks identical to the Sigma and Jessup brush. And last but not least I would love a dedicated highlighting brush for the impending purchase of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder I want to buy before my wedding. Zoeva Luxe Highlight brush looks perfect for the job, not too small yet not too big so I don’t smear glittery stuff all over my face.
I think this will make a great Christmas present to myself once I’ve returned from becoming a married woman!
Have you tried Zoeva brushes before? What do you think of them?
So lately I had a reality check, it’s easy to get caught up in the hype of “must-own-every-beauty/makeup-product-in-the-world”. I understand the want behind it, but do you really need it? For me, the answer is no. I’m not a professional blogger or makeup artist, I don’t need to collect things for them to just sit in my drawers. Pretty hypocritical since I just admitted I own over 300 nail polishes, but everyone has their weaknesses right? I’m fighting a losing battle with that!
Anyway, I’m trying to have more “purpose-ful” (yep I make up words too) decisions with products I want to add to my collection. I’m doing extensive research with reviews and other blogs to help me in deciding. So here are a list of products I’m currently saving/lusting for –
- Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation.I’veread SO much about this foundation, I am ready to take the plunge of using this for my full coverage foundation. Like everything it has mixed reviews, but I’ve paid attention to the ones that are similar to my skin/needs. I think this is the guy for me!
- Estée Lauder Double Wear All-Day Glow BB Cream. If all goes well with the standard version, I’ve heard this is an amazing BB cream, AND it’s SPF 30+ which is perfect for Perth summers.
- I’m tossing up between 2 concealers, as I’m finding out I really am missing out by not owning one. I can already see the stones being thrown by makeup lovers out there, yes I know it’s the most important thing to own, don’t forget I still learning! So my two choices are Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Concealer and MAC Pro Longwear Concealer. I know a lot of you still will MAC MAC MAC but that concealer is designed for only under eyes. Whereas the Estée Lauder is designed for under eyes and blemish coverage. I think I’ll just pop into a Myers over the course of 2 days and try them both out, best way is to test!
- Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous Light. The main reason why I want this is for my wedding. I’ve seen SO many YouTube tutorials that include this powder and I can really see why! Plus for me it’s another way to add dimension to my face day to day.
- This lust isn’t a beauty product but I’ve been looking for the perfect small black bag lately. I’m usually the ‘carry-my-stuff” mule when I’m out with my fiancé, yet I’m not usually a fan of large handbags (unless it’s a Prada or Celiné!!). So when I came across the Marcs Soft Pebble Laura Double Pocket Pouch bag I fell in love. I love how it can be a clutch or a cross-body bag, it’s literally perfect. Oh and it has 2 pockets, one for my stuff and one for my fiancé 😛
I’ve also reduced my lusting lists to 3-4 items per month to curb my spending. When I got my Priceline return voucher in the mail and realised I spent over $400 in 3 months, it was kinda scary. No more “OMIGOSHINEEDTHISGIMMEGIMME“, unless it’s actually needed or I haven’t treated myself to a new lipstick in awhile 🙂
LOL in saying that, my BFF is bringing me back some makeup from the US in November, but that doesn’t count right? International waters? 😛
