Holy shiznick Jeffree Star!

I have an obsession with liquid lipsticks, that’s no lie, and I’m always on the hunt to try more. Jeffree Star is new to the market, coming to center stage once the drama of Lime Crime surfaced. Sure he’s been around since the Myspace days but it’s only recently that he’s started making his own line of makeup. I say line of makeup as I’ve heard he’s bringing out eyeshadows this year too! Currently in his collection he’s released 10 colours in his liquid lipstick line with many more to come. I’ve always wanted to try them out and finally a colour with my name all over it was released..

IMG_7074Anna Nicole is the perfect orange red. I adore orange-reds as I think they really suit my skin tone and offset my blue eyes nicely. They are easy to wear at any time of the year and are a nice change to wearing a “standard” red. I purchased mine from an authorised Australian stockist Makeupnet. They are a store in Melbourne that also sells online, they seem to be the fastest in receiving stock when it launches and their customer service is amazing. I highly recommend them!

JS Anna Nicole swatchNow onto what I think about the lipstick. Gosh, where do I start! I know liquid lipsticks are drying, you can’t have something that dries matte and doesn’t dry out your lips. However I honestly felt like I have nothing on my lips at all! I didn’t feel like all the moisture was drawn out or that my lips were cracking, which does happen with some brands. It did wear away from the inside of my mouth after eating and drinking throughout the day, yet I didn’t feel like I needed to touch up at all. My only gripe is that on me the product does transfer. It’s not kiss-proof 😦 This doesn’t bother me too much, my husband usually stays away from kissing my lips when I’m wearing lipstick regardless of it’s staying power.

I think I’ve found a new favourite liquid lipstick and look forward to collecting more colours in the future!

Winter hues

I love winter, the cooler weather works better for my European blood. Plus there’s coats and scarves galore! In my opinion fashion and trends really shine in winter, mainly because I love wearing that season of clothing/trends. The one thing that never seems to shift are winter hues in lipstick, they’re always deep and dark, mainly consisting of reds and plums.

I’ve taken some photos of my favourite winter hue lipsticks in my current collection for you.

I prefer to wear minimal makeup with darker lipsticks, unless it’s a big event. I find heavy makeup either takes the attention away from the lipstick or I look too over-done.

I can see my winter hue lipstick collection growing this year, what do you recommend?

Colour Drama

Maybelline Colour Drama lip pencils are the hottest new product. There isn’t a beauty blogger in Australia that isn’t raving about them. They come in a variety of 10 shades, so you’re bound to find a colour you like.Β Personally I’m on the fence. Sure the colour pay-off is fantastic, they are velvety soft when applying to your lips and they are pretty cheap. What really irks me is how they wear off, it’s not a pretty sight. Apparently they’re dupes for the NARS Velvet Pencils but I don’t own any of those so have nothing to compare.

Maybelline Colour DramaSo how do they wear and why don’t I like it? They wear ok until you eat, which is a given for most lip products these days. The inside of your lips completely melt off and some of the colour on your lips is lost. The worst thing is the edges, they bleed and feather onto your face. I pretty much had to wipe off all the lipstick and reapply. Does this bother me that much? Not really, and they never claim to be ‘long wearing’ or a stain. They do claim to have dramatic colour and that’s something they smashed out of the ball park!

All in all, I think I will collect more colours particularly the nudes. On special you can get them for around $6, otherwise they retail for around $10 and thats an amazing price for a pretty nice lip product.

Have you tried these? Are you on the bandwagon as well?

MAC Lipstick

I never understood the hype behind MAC lipsticks until now, and I totally get it. The one thing that ticks me off the most is the price of them in Australia. They are affordable in the US being under $20, yet in Australia they’re $36 or $40 for a Limited Edition one… Like seriously? Anyway, enough ranting about MAC prices in Australia, let’s leave that for another post.

IMG_5852One of my gorgeous friends was travelling to her homeland, South Africa, and their makeup prices are similar to the US. She was thoughtful in asking if I wanted anything, so naturally I chose a few things from MAC. I knew it was a great opportunity to grab some lipsticks I’ve wanted for awhile to add to the one I already owned.

IMG_5851So why do I love MAC lipsticks? Well first off, they smell so delicious I want to eat them. It’s like a sweet vanilla caramel smell, oh it’s delicious! Secondly, for a ‘normal’ lipstick they have great staying power. Even trying to wipe the swatches off my arm with just Micellar water was a struggle. Their colour range is large and you are bound to find something you like. I live in a pretty hot state and don’t have any issues with them melting or sweating, I’ve heard some people do and have to keep them in the fridge. I’ve found that now I have more neutral colours I’m wearing them almost every day. Also the shades I chose wear lovely on my lips, and even if I do eat or drink you don’t notice much wearing off. I love the finish on these lipsticks, they aren’t drying and keep my lips hydrated throughout the day. My favourite is Brave as it’s my exact “my lips but better” colour.

I have a looooooong list of MAC lipsticks on my ‘to buy’ list, one day I will own them all! πŸ˜›

Sephora Collection

Sephora is soon to open it’s doors in Sydney and I know everyone is excited. I wanted to talk about their own brand of cosmetic line. It’s one of the lines they are bringing to Australia and it makes me excited to think I’ll have easier access to it. Not only do they have cosmetics but also skincare etc.Β I have a few cosmetics and a brush from their brand, I want you to know how great I think they are!

sephora brush

First up I’ll start with the brush. I can thank Grav3yard Girl for prompting this purchase because it was in one of her haul videos. I’ve never seen a brush like this before and really wanted something for bronzing/contouring but not so harsh. It was a costly brush, probably the second most expensive brush I own actually! But oh so worth it, so soft and luxurious. It also comes with a handy snap cover for travelling and just general protection. It’s become my favourite brush for bronzing/contouring for a softer look. I highly recommend you look into the Sephora brush line, they are kinda expensive but I guarantee it’s an investment.

sephora lipstick

The next two items are lip products. Oh and red, cos I seem to collect every red lipstick/stain/gloss/pencil I come across even if they all look the same. Colour Lip Last is a lipstick which boasts staying power of up to 10 hours. I agree the staying power is fantastic, but the lipstick does have some downsides. It can smudge easily and then it’s staying where it’s smudged. I’m still yet to find an amazing red lip liner that doesn’t budge to match with this, I think combined I could take over the world. When I use it I more dab it into my lips so less product is applied and I also use a red gloss to help keep my lips hydrated. Unfortunately like all ‘long lasting’ lip products it does tend to dry out your lips. I have the colour 19 Pure Red which is a matte colour. It’s so pigmented and I love it so I make it work. I can’t make to get my hands on more of the colours!

sephora cream lip stain

Then I also have another matte cream lip stain. My first was Lime Crime and I’m yet to find something similar, until now. I purchased the colour 01 Always Red which is so similar to my Lime Crime Velveteen in Red Velvet it’s scary. Oh except it’s half the price! It’s long wearing and super comfortable on your lips. You can drink and eat without it budging. I don’t need a lip liner with this as the edges don’t bleed and stay put all day. I wish it came in more colours, but I do intend on purchasing the other 2 when I can. I highly recommend if you’re looking for a Lime Crime dupe of Red Velvet that you give this a try.

Have you tried any Sephora Collection cosmetics?

Give me some lip!

I’m just putting it out there, I have a better best friend than you. My girl is so amazing, words cannot describe! When she gave me my belated birthday presents, I actually and literally cried. I had no idea she was scheming ideas while she was in the US for my birthday. Of course I thought she was asking for advice on products to buy herself, apparently not. Anyway enough of me professing my love, time to move onto the first gift she gave me.

Sephora Give Me Some Lip

Sephora Give Me Some Lip is one of the much hyped gift sets that Sephora release only once a year. They also have a bigger gift set called Give Me More Lip, which is going to be on my 2015 Christmas wish list! Give Me More Lip contains 6 different lip products, one lipstick, two glosses, one lip cream, one lip lacquer and one lip pencil. The set retails for $25US but apparently is a $90US value. I’d say it would be a $90US value if all the products were full-sized, yet they are not.

The first in the box is the Smashbox Be Legendary Gloss in Pout. This gloss is a full-sized item and it smells sooooo sweet. When I first saw it I thought I had a dud, I didn’t realise it was meant to have no colour. If you go by the Sephora picture it looks like a soft/nude pink however mine is definitely white/nude. I think this would be perfect to top off a bold colour to dull it down and give it a lovely shimmery shine. I admit I’m not a huge fan of glosses, but this feels like heaven on the lips when applied lightly.

Second in the box is the Bite High Pigment Lip Pencil in Meritage. There are 3 things that ring true about this lip pencil, high pigment, matte and long-lasting. I’ve wanted to try some Bite lip products for ages and to be able to glide this onto my lips was heaven. I really really want to get more of these pencils, I neeeeeed more colours in my life. Gimme gimme! Oh and this was a deluxe sample size product.

Third in the box is theΒ Marc Jacobs Mini Lust for Lacquer in Kissability. A highly pigmented lacquer in a sample sized bottle. Another super sweet smell, I’m noticing a trend with gloss/lacquer products here? I love the shimmer in this, out of all the gloss/lacquers this is my favourite. It’s a shade darker than my natural lip colour and really looks gorgeous on the days where I want ‘natural but better than natural’ lips.

Fourth in the box is the Buxom Mini Full On Lip Cream in White Russian. Don’t let the name fool you with this one, as it’s definitely a nude colour. They do say it’s a nude pink, but I’d say it’s more a nude peach. This one was a sample size, yet for a sample size it’s pretty big! I’ve never owned a proper “nude” lip cream before, and I’m still warming to the idea of losing the pinky tone of my lips. I think I need to try it out a few more times before I can decide whether I’m on the ‘lips lost in your foundation’ look. Oh and gorgeous sweet smell again πŸ˜›

Fifth in the box is the NARS Deluxe Orgasm Lip Gloss. OMG MY FIRST NARS PRODUCT! I can see why girls go gaga for the packaging, perfectly on point! This is a deluxe sample size and will last a really really long time. Probably because I don’t get the obsession with their ‘Orgasm’ line? I’m not a fan of gold glitter/shimmer in beauty products. It’s a gorgeous lip gloss to wear, and I will continue to try it out buttttttttttt gold.

Then lastly is the Urban Decay Mini Naked Revolution Lipstick. I squealed over this the most, it’s a teeny-tiny lipstick! I almost don’t want to use it as it’ll disappear so quickly. Like the Bite lip pencil, I really really want to own more colours/full-sized products in this line. So pigmented, so creamy and really impressed me. My first proper nude lipstick and it hit the nail on the head. Doesn’t make my lips disappear into my foundation yet dull down the bright pink of my natural lip colour. SO impressed SO need more in my life.

So there’s my first impressions of the Sephora Give Me Some Lip gift set. I love it, adore it and cannot wait to continue to use all the lip products in future looks.

Red Obsession

I think most girls are obsessed with red lips. I didn’t realise how many red lip products I owned until I decided to do this post! Even saying that I didn’t realise how little my collection was of red lipsticks! This post is going to be photo heavy, so check it out below πŸ™‚
